At the end of the day, they're both heinous crimes. Trying to compare murder and rape has little merit; each case is judged by its facts, so trying to adopt a black and white approach to which crime is 'worse' than another does nothing. They're both terrible, but they can both occur in so many different circumstances that there can't be one definition of judgement on their nature. Bit of a BS middle-ground approach, but eh.

Yet as you all can pretty much agree, rape as horrible as it is, is nowhere near as bad as murder, torture and what not and yet it's those kind of things we can give sympathy towards.
I don't agree at all. Rape is worse than murder in my opinion, for the individual at least. Murder could be more harmful to the family or friends of the victim, though. Rape is a form of torture.

Your changing the definition you are bringing in incest, drugs, verbal abuse, assault and young boys. Maybe if you haven't noticed but males in puberty seek women not young boys which is a different situation. You need an erection to have sex so the guy who is getting raped has will in his part unless if the a man is totally drugged . And I had plenty of sex since you keep bringing it up.

Like others have said, you do not need to be turned on to have an erection. Also, whoever said that an erection was necessary for rape? A male could just as easily rape a man, or a woman could anally rape a man. An erection isn't even needed.

Without reading all the replies, and coming from a male perspective, I think grape is considered such a heinous crime because it is the violation of something fundamental to ourselves; our body. The severity of the crime is not in it's repercussions, a grape victim can and often does go on to lead a very successful life afterwards whereas murder the repercussion is well, the end of your life therefore zero chance at living a successful one. The severity of the crime is in the terror aspect of it, being completely helpless and violated.

Here's the thing though; some women actually enjoy that aspect of sexuality, BDSM and all. They enjoy the idea of being helpless, as long as it is still in a controlled environment.
I could never imagine what a woman who is pregnant through grape must feel. It would be an unbearable burden...

Granted, the punishment is not the same for murder, either. One murder, premeditated could land you life in prison. One grape, premeditated will likely result in far less prison time.

PS, the R word is grape because it won't allow me to post otherwise. IDK why. I click continue when it warns me but it still will not. So I censored it.

As do some men, but the difference is that BDSM is consensual and uses a "safe word" when the person is uncomfortable, the rules are generally laid out to benefit both parties, not all aspects of BDSM involve simulated rape, but yeah, safe environment.

Rape is a serious crime, can't really be compared to murder because the two involve different things, that's like comparing apples and oranges, as the phrase goes. Someone who has committed it should get life imprisonment I believe, they have violated someones rights for life and as such, they should lose their right to freedom.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I get what Brofist is talking about though, can't think of many real world examples but in fiction take The Governor in The Walking Dead.

Crazy dude, kills a lot of people, great character most people like.
And then when he rapes someone he get's hate for it, like that makes him much more of an evil dude than killing innocents and such.

Most of us agree that it's not as horrible a crime but it provokes more of a reaction, for some reason. Generally speaking anyway.
I only really care about it when fictional characters I like do it, as soon as they do it makes them seem really petty to me, they can murder and pillage all they want but when they go down to that it's like c'mon dude why did you have to do that, it just seems more of a d*** move(no pun intended) than other crimes they could do but isn't necessarily more evil.

As for punishment I don't think someone should get life for it unless it was brutal, against a child or part of a gang rape.
You can't always tell if it's genuine or not and there are other issues like mental health that can come in to play, nobody deserves to be raped but in some cases the rapist can't help it, 10 years minimum with no chance of parole, depending on circumstances. Not a lot of people serve their full sentence so 10 years with no parole is a long time, a long time to go over what you did and how pathetic it was.
They're still going to be on the sex offenders list and an ex convict, not like they could stroll out of jail as if nothing had changed.

Like I said before, rape is horrible and violating, but it doesn't always have to be... It really depends on the situation, and I can't speak for everyone, so I don't necessarily think that all "rape" should be lumped into the same category and given the same sentence. Severity should vary. Same with murder though, in my opinion, but that may be an unpopular thing to say.

Yeah someone affected by mental illness, drugs or alcohol shouldn't be put on the same level as a violent rapist who took a baseball bat or knife with them and completely planned it.
Or in the case of a woman she shouldn't get life for shoving something up an abusive ex husbands pooper for beating her every night. the guy gets no sympathy from me there and shouldn't from anyone.
